Locations · Partner vs Independent

Looking for a NetSuite partner in the UK?

Before you shortlist, it is worth knowing what ‘partner’ actually means, when you genuinely need one and when independent serves you better.

A balanced comparisonIndependent – by design
The problem

‘Partner’ describes their relationship with Oracle, not with you

A NetSuite partner is a firm in Oracle’s channel programme: they resell licences, carry sales targets and earn margin on what you buy. None of that is sinister. But every incentive in that structure points towards selling you more NetSuite, and none of it points towards telling you no.

What we do

How the two models compare

  • Licence adviceA partner earns margin on your licence bill; we sit on your side of that negotiation instead.
  • Module recommendationsTargets reward attach rates; independence lets ‘you don’t need that module’ be a sentence.
  • Delivery staffingChannel economics favour junior-heavy staffing; our model only works senior.
  • Second opinionsPartners rarely audit other partners candidly. We review their work for a living.
  • Straight answers on fitWe’ll say when NetSuite is the wrong answer; a quota makes that sentence expensive.
  • Where partners winYou need one to buy licences. And we’ll help you choose and negotiate with them.
The payoff

What independence buys you

Advice without arithmetic

No commission behind any recommendation. The maths is only your maths.

A negotiator on your side

We’ve sat both sides of licence deals; yours is more fun.

Senior delivery

Solution-architect-level people because the model depends on them.

Both worlds, cleanly

Buy licences from a reseller, delivery and truth from us. Many clients run exactly that split.

How it works

How to run your selection

  1. Separate the decisions – licences and delivery are different purchases – unbundle them.

  2. Interrogate the grade mix – ask any partner exactly who works your project, by name and level.

  3. Get the design challenged – whoever builds, have the solution design independently reviewed.

  4. Keep an independent voice – independent assurance through delivery keeps everyone’s homework marked.

Before you sign

Questions to ask any NetSuite partner or solution provider

Oracle’s partner channel includes resellers, known as NetSuite solution providers, and firms that deliver services without reselling. Whichever you speak to, these six questions show how the relationship will work in practice, before anything is signed.

  • Which programme are you in?Solution Providers resell licences and implement. Alliance Partners deliver services without reselling. Knowing which tells you how the firm earns money from your project.
  • Who will work on our project?Ask for names, grades and how much of their time you get each week. Check how much of the delivery is subcontracted.
  • How are you paid on licences? If the firm earns a margin on your subscription, ask how that affects its advice on modules and user numbers.
  • Who reviews the design?Ask whether an independent reviewer can check the solution design before the build starts. Our project assurance service does exactly that.
  • How do you price changes?Ask for the change-order process in writing, including how extra work is approved and priced before it starts.
  • What happens if we part ways?Check who owns the documentation, scripts and configuration, and how a handover would work. If it comes to it, switching partners is simpler when this is agreed up front.

Good to know

What to know before you start

  • !Sometimes a partner is the right answer. Licence procurement requires one, and some bundled situations genuinely suit channel firms. We’ll tell you when that’s you, because pretending otherwise would make us exactly what we’re criticising.
  • !Good partners exist. This page argues incentives, never character; plenty of channel consultants are excellent. The structure around them deserves your scrutiny.
  • !We don’t sell licences, full stop. If you want one throat to choke for software and services together, that’s legitimately not us.

NetSuite Partner UK FAQs

Who do we buy NetSuite licences from if you’re not a partner?
Licences come from Oracle NetSuite directly or through a reseller. We’re neither, and we’ll help you choose and negotiate with whichever you use.
Can you deliver an implementation without partner status?
Fully. Implementation, integration, support and rescue need expertise and account access, never channel membership. Ask the partners how much of their delivery is subcontracted anyway.
What is a NetSuite solution provider?
A NetSuite solution provider is a firm in Oracle’s Solution Provider Program. It resells NetSuite licences and usually implements them too, earning a margin on your subscription as well as fees for its services. Alliance Partners, by contrast, provide services without reselling. Either can be a good choice. What matters is knowing how the firm you choose is paid.
Why do most firms become partners then?
Licence margin and lead flow – it’s a sound business model. It’s just a model built around Oracle’s interests and theirs; ours is built around yours.
