Sage to NetSuite migration
When Sage 50 or Sage 200 can’t keep up, move to multi-entity support, real-time reporting and a nominal structure that reflects how you run your business today.
Signs you’ve outgrown Sage
Your business needs more than Sage can offer. Your team handles consolidation manually, exports data for reporting and relies on customisations only one person understands. Every change becomes a challenge. If you have outgrown Sage, the question is no longer whether to move but what to move to. Sage’s own comparison shows Sage 50 Standard allows a maximum of two users and five companies.
How we migrate from Sage to NetSuite
Nothing reaches production until it has balanced in a sandbox.
- Nominal to COA, redesignedTwenty years of Sage nominal codes become a chart of accounts built for current reporting.
- Full extract, documentedSage 50 and 200 data extracted cleanly. Customers, suppliers, stock, open items, history.
- Departments & cost centresSage analysis fields map to NetSuite segments with built-in rules.
- Reconciled balancesOpening TB and control accounts tied back to Sage before anyone goes live.
- Year-end aware timingWe plan cutover to your financial calendar, so reconciliation is clean.
- History archivedHistory stays available as archived Sage data or exports, kept for as long as record-keeping rules require.
What switching buys you
Your data, reconciled
Open items and the history you choose come across and reconcile.
Days, planned
One freeze over a month-end – your team shouldn’t need to key anything twice.
Room the old system never had
Entities, currencies, reporting – with far more room to grow.
Sign-off, in writing
Every control account tied to source before go-live.
Five checkpoints
No checkpoint passes without your sign-off.
Assess – we profile the current system and agree what moves, what’s archived and when.
Map – every field and value gets a documented home in NetSuite before anything is loaded.
Rehearse – the full migration runs into a sandbox first – never straight to production.
Reconcile – balances tie back to the old system, account by account, and finance signs off.
Cut over – one freeze, one final load, go-live with a rollback ready.
What to know before you start
- !Sage customisations don’t transfer. Bespoke reports and add-ons are requirements to redesign in NetSuite, never code to port. We treat them that way from day one.
- !Data quality decides the timeline. Years of shared logins and workaround postings surface during cleansing; budget for the tidy-up, it pays back in the first close.
- !Sage Intacct is a different conversation. If someone is selling you Intacct as the easy step, ask what happens at the next ceiling. We’ll give you a balanced comparison, and our NetSuite vs Sage Intacct page sets out the differences.
