Why titles mislead

Same words, different jobs

NetSuite job titles can mean very different things across businesses. An “administrator” might manage user permissions in one company and oversee system architecture and custom workflows in another. A “consultant” could support project meetings or lead the entire technical design. Hiring by title alone can lead to mismatched expectations and frustrated teams. Start with the work that needs doing, then define the responsibilities, skills and experience the role requires.

NetSuite Job Roles Explained FAQs

How current are the bands?
Our NetSuite salary bands – from NetSuite administrator salary through consultant and developer rates – reflect published UK salary data and our own market observation as of September 2026. Stated as ranges to account for scope and candidate scarcity, they provide a realistic baseline. However, specialised technical skills will command market premiums.
Which role does a first NetSuite hire mean?
Your first NetSuite hire should almost always be a senior administrator or an admin-architect hybrid. You need a standing internal owner to establish platform governance and handle daily operations before bringing in specialised project resources. See our admin hiring page for more info.
Do certifications change the salary bands?
Certifications are helpful for proving baseline platform knowledge and getting CVs through initial agency filters, but they don’t automatically command higher salary bands. What actually drives compensation is practical capability – how a candidate handles live system issues, architectural design and complex troubleshooting under pressure. In our recruitment process, we visibly weight demonstrated technical judgement far above a list of certificates.
